May 14, 2019

Sometimes things don't go as planned.  Sometimes, the best intentions fall flat.  Sometimes, even friendship just isn't enough.

Join AJ and I for this eye opening episode where we discuss light bulbs, carry-on luggage, The Oregon Trail, and of course, ska.

Episode 28 - with guest Ron Varod (Zvi, Kayo Dot, Sabbath Assembly)

April 30, 2019

Kayo Dot is a very important band to me, so it was an honor to welcome Ron Varod onto the podcast.  Ron is a multi-instrumentalist who is in Kayo Dot, Sabbath Assembly and performs solo under the name Zvi.  Zvi was on a tour across America supporting his new record "Deer Pink" and stopped in to share some interesting music and perspectives.

Join us as we talk about Ulver, the pros and cons of drum machines, music production and Karaoke.

Episode 25 - with guest Robert Hunter (Hollow Branches, Occulted Sound)

March 19, 2019

Robert Hunter and I go way back.  He is one of my favorite people.  He and I have collaborated on many things, including Snares of Sixes, Self Spiller and my short lived label, Audio Savant, that we both struggled with years ago.

He also makes music with IHM's very own Marius Sjoli in Hollow Branches, and solo under the moniker Occulted Sound.  Join Robert and I for beer, music and a few laughs.

Episode 24 - with guest Asa Eisenhardt (Nostalgist)

February 26, 2019

Asa Eisenhardt spearheads the shoegaze/postpunk band Nostalgist as well as runs the label Nostalgium Directive.  Asa and I have been friends for quite some time, and it was a pleasure to have him in my studio to share music.  Nostalgist's "Dissafection" was in my top 5 favorites records from 2018 so I wanted to get him in here to promote it a bit.  Join us for music, memories and a bit of nostalgia.

Episode 23 - with guest Ellory Walton

February 15, 2019

Ellory Walton has been my daughter for almost 12 years now.  She is an amazing, and disturbingly brilliant and hilarious individual.  Her music taste might be suspect, and honestly, confounding, but her insight into the way kids her age get exposed to music, share music, and consume music is fascinating.  Join us for music and beers.

Episode 22 - with guest Aaron Rieseberg (YOB, Norska)

Episode 22 - with guest Aaron Rieseberg (YOB, Norska)

January 28, 2019

YOB has been a leading force in doom metal for a long time, but in the previous few years they have reached a level of success few achieve, and it is richly deserved.  YOB tends to defy, and define heavy music all at once.  2018 brought us the release of "Our Raw Hearts," YOB's latest album, and after months of being on the road, bassist Aaron Rieseberg joined me for beers, music and bass geekery while we collectively tried to remember which countries we have toured.

Episode 21 - New Year’s Eve 2018 Experiment

Episode 21 - New Year’s Eve 2018 Experiment

January 9, 2019

I believe art of any kind, should be wrought with chance operation and experiment.  I also believe that podcasting is an art.  With that spirit in mind, I give to you, an odd experiment I presented to the guests at my house on New Year's Eve.  I set up all my podcasting gear, hit "play" on my Spotify "Your Top Songs of 2018" playlist automatically made for me by the all-knowing gods at Spotify, and invited my guests to take part, without me.

After some heavy editing of approximately 8 hours of audio, I widdled it down to the cream of the crop.  Join me in listening to various people, from various age groups, reacting to a randomly generated playlist that they can only hear, not see.  If you have listened to past episodes, some voices will be familiar, and others will be new.

Episode 20 - with guest Don Anderson (KHôRADA, Sculptured, ex-Agalloch)

Episode 20 - with guest Don Anderson (KHôRADA, Sculptured, ex-Agalloch)

December 31, 2018

Don Anderson needs no introduction.  He is the mastermind behind Prog Metal mainstays Sculptured, the guitarist for KHôRADA and perhaps best known for wielding the guitar for Agalloch for 20 years.  Don is also a college professor, a snappy dresser, a beer snob and one of my absolute closest friends.

Today Don and I talk obscure 90's death metal, share some current music, as well as revisit our past in Agalloch and recount our memories regarding the making of Agalloch's "From Which of this Oak" demo.   Don closes out this episode with an acoustic rendition of an Agalloch classic.
